About GMAC

Georgia Musical Arts Center (GMAC) was founded by Dr. Jessie Lo in 2013 as a professional music education studio in East Cobb, committed to high-quality, individualized instruction. Today, GMAC continues to grow under the leadership of Zoe Lo, a recent music graduate with a passion for expanding musical opportunities for all. With the addition of new instruments and teaching specialists, GMAC now offers private lessons in piano, strings, voice, and guitar. Our students have consistently excelled in ABRSM exams, as well as GMTA and GMEA auditions, reflecting our faculty’s professionalism and dedication. GMAC remains a trusted place where musicians of all levels can learn, grow, and thrive.

Music theory is essential for a comprehensive understanding of music. GMAC offers classes that cover everything from basic concepts to advanced techniques, helping you become a well-rounded musician. GMAC has successfully prepared the majority of our students to achieve scores of 90% or higher on GMTA theory tests and ABRSM exams.

  GMAC holds 2-3 recitals annually, showcasing our students' high-quality performances. We also offer dress rehearsals before auditions to give students valuable experience. In May, students who demonstrate strong commitment throughout the school year may be awarded a trophy as a mark of their achievement. Each recital is followed by a reception.

Piano Lessons - Classical & Jazz Piano

Our piano program serves students of all levels and ages, from young beginners to advanced performers. Lessons are structured to build strong technique, music theory understanding, and expressive playing, while also incorporating student-preferred repertoire—classical, contemporary, or popular. Our professional instructors provide a supportive, motivating environment that balances discipline with creativity, helping students thrive in recitals, competitions, and exams.

Violin, Viola & Cello

We offer individualized violin, viola, and cello instruction focused on developing sound technique, musicality, and performance confidence. Whether studying through traditional or Suzuki-inspired methods, our students learn effective bowing, posture, intonation, and music reading in a sequential, engaging format. Our string faculty also prepare students for orchestral auditions and solo competitions, fostering both artistry and discipline.

Guitar

Our guitar program includes instruction in acoustic and electric guitar, with styles ranging from classical and folk to rock and blues. Beginners learn foundational chords, strumming, rhythm, and fingerpicking, while advanced students develop solo, ensemble, and improvisational skills. Our teachers customize lessons to fit each student’s goals, making learning enjoyable and effective.

Voice / Musical Theater

Our Voice / Musical Theater program welcomes students of all ages and skill levels. Lessons focus on healthy vocal technique, proper breathing, diction, expression, and performance skills across a variety of styles, including classical, musical theater, and contemporary music. Students develop confidence, stage presence, and artistic expression while receiving expert guidance in solo repertoire, audition preparation, character development, and performance etiquette. Whether preparing for the stage or building lifelong musical skills, students are encouraged to discover their unique voice and passion for performance.

Our Teachers

The faculty at GMAC consists of highly trained and experienced musicians who are deeply committed to the art of teaching. With a strong passion for music education, our instructors are dedicated to fostering each student’s growth and helping them achieve their full potential. We provide personalized instruction, carefully tailored to meet the unique needs, goals, and learning styles of every individual.

Miss Zoe Lo, Executive Director/ Arts Manager, Violin/Piano/Music Theory Instructor

Miss Zoe is an active member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Georgia Music Teacher Association (GMTA), and Cobb County Music Teacher Association (CCMTA). She completed a dual degree program in Violin Performance (BA) and Arts Management and Entrepreneurship (MA) at the Mannes School of Music, The New School University at NYC. She has performed as a soloist with the Walton Chamber Orchestra, playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. Miss Zoe has won numerous competitions in both violin and piano, passed the ABRSM Theory Exam, and has successfully prepared many students for acceptance into GMEA All-State. She gives violin/piano lessons (beginner to advanced), music theory, and ear training at all levels. She is skillful in teaching Sight-reading for All-State Audition. Miss Zoe lives at East Cobb. Dr. Jessie HsinLan Chien Lo, Founder & Director, Piano/Music Theory Instructor

Dr. Jessie HsinLan Chien Lo is an accomplished pianist, collaborative artist, adjudicator, and educator with nearly 40 years of teaching experience. She is recognized for her high standards, individualized mentorship, and dedication to developing each student’s technical excellence, artistic expression, and lifelong appreciation for music.

Dr. Lo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in Piano Performance from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She also holds a Music Education degree from National Taipei Teachers’ College, earned her Music Educator Certification in Taiwan, and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through the Music Teachers National Association in the United States.

As the founder and director of Georgia Musical Arts Center (GMAC), Dr. Lo has built a program dedicated to excellence in music education, offering comprehensive instruction in piano performance, music theory, and collaborative musicianship. Her students have achieved outstanding success in competitions, auditions, examinations, gifted music programs, and university admissions, earning scholarships and acceptance to leading universities and conservatories.

Dr. Lo has served as Piano Audition Chair for the Cobb County Music Teachers Association since 2015 and is frequently invited to adjudicate piano competitions, festivals, and auditions throughout Georgia. She previously served as an Adjunct Professor at universities in San Antonio, Texas, teaching applied piano, piano pedagogy, and piano classes. As a collaborative artist, she has performed in faculty recitals and accompanied numerous instrumental and vocal recitals.

Since 2024, Dr. Lo has been a member of the piano faculty at The Lovett School, where she continues to inspire students through a balance of technical mastery, musical creativity, and personalized guidance. She also prepares students for ABRSM Piano and Music Theory examinations, helping many students successfully achieve outstanding results.

Through her extensive performance background, pedagogical expertise, and passion for teaching, Dr. Lo continues to mentor young musicians and cultivate confident, expressive performers at every level.

Julian Carreno, guitar / Jazz Piano instructor

Mr. Carreno is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied Composition and Jazz Arranging, earning a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Berklee World Tour Scholarship. With a diverse musical background spanning concert band, jazz, contemporary pop, classical, and rock, Julian brings versatility and creativity to every lesson. At Georgia Musical Arts Center, he specializes in teaching acoustic and electric guitar, ukulele, jazz piano, and music theory. His well-rounded musicianship enables him to help students develop strong technical skills, deepen their musical understanding, foster creativity, and build confidence across a wide variety of musical styles. Passionate about music education, Julian is dedicated to inspiring students of all ages through engaging, personalized instruction while sharing the depth and breadth of his professional training and performance experience.

Mr. Ethan Lo, Cello Instructor

Mr. Ethan Lo is an accomplished young cellist with over 10 years of dedicated study and extensive orchestral performance experience. He has served as Principal Cellist of the Walton Chamber Orchestra and has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra since 2023. He has also been selected as a principal or assistant principal cellist for the GMEA All-State Full Orchestra, demonstrating his leadership, musicianship, and commitment to excellence.

Ethan’s achievements include earning the ABRSM Cello Diploma, receiving First Place in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition, and being selected as a 2026 GMTA State Audition Scholarship recipient. He has performed at Carnegie Hall in 2017 and 2023 and was honored to participate in the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program in 2024, studying Cello Performance with a minor in Computer Science.

Beyond performance, Ethan is passionate about sharing his love of music with younger students. At Georgia Musical Arts Center, he focuses on developing strong foundations in cello technique, tone production, music reading, and expressive playing. As a patient, kind, and encouraging teacher, Ethan strives to help students build confidence, discover their musical voice, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music.

Ethan will begin his studies as a Computer Science major at Georgia Tech in Fall 2026.

Greyson Huneycutt, Vocal and Musical Theater Instructor

Greyson Huneycutt, Vocal, Musical Theater, Acting/Dance, and Beginning-Level Piano. Greyson is a performer and teaching artist who earned a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre with minors in Dance and Political Science from Western Carolina University. With 16 years of vocal experience, she has developed a strong background in Musical Theatre, Classical, and Pop vocal styles. At Georgia Musical Arts Center, Greyson focuses on helping students develop vocal technique, musical expression, stage presence, and performance skills. She believes performing arts education should provide a safe, encouraging, and enriching environment where students of all ages can build confidence through healthy technique, meaningful challenges, and compassionate guidance. Passionate about helping students discover their unique artistic voices, Greyson is excited to inspire creativity, strengthen skills, and create lasting connections with her students through music and performance.

Break news

Congratulations to GMAC Cello Instructor

 Mr. Ethan Lo received the GMTA State Strings Senior Cash Award ($200) and First Place ($1,000) at the Atlanta Music Club Scholarship Competition (April 2026). He earned ABRSM Diploma in Cello (age 16) and ABRSM Grade 8 Piano with Distinction (age 13). He begins Computer Science at Georgia Tech this year.

Rent a recital space?

Host your next performance or studio recital in our intimate 35-seat hall, featuring a wonderful Boston Grand Piano at GMAC. Rental is $100 for a 90-minute minimum session, with a $200 refundable deposit. Guests are responsible for setting up chairs and cleaning the space after use. No food or reception is allowed. Additional time is billed at $30 per 30 minutes beyond the initial session. Please email Dr. Lo for more info.
